We are back from skiing in Big White, Canada, just in time for Christmas. Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas filled with peace, hope and LOVE. Feel free to download our Christmas letter. Enjoy.
This is a photo of a painting titled "Reflections" of the Vietnam Wall in Washington. This photo brought tears to my eyes and put an ache in my heart. Vietnam was a war nobody wanted and our citizens did not treat the returning soldiers from this most unpopular war kindly. The painting inspired this story retold at http://www.pointmanok.org/poem.htm.
Of all the memorials I've visited this one touches me the most.
When you're eating your barbecue, smiling and laughing, there is a house somewhere with an empty chair where a hero should be sitting. They gave up their life so that you can sit with your family.
So take a moment to say a prayer for those heroes who did not make it home. And take another moment to thank those around the world who are still protecting us.Later.
Good thing we are still in San Diego as the transmission on the truck went out. The repair guy told us there was a 90% chance that the problem was minor. No such luck for us. When they pulled the transmission, they discovered it required a complete rebuild for a mere $3k. Updated my resume because now I need to work. Those we loved are never really lost to us. We feel them in so many special ways...
Through friends they always cared about and dreams they left behind. In the beauty, trust and humor they added to our days. In their words of wisdom and faith we still carry with us. In memories of times together that never will be forgotten...
... How I'd love, love, love to dance with my Father again.I've always loved this song by Luther Vandross and Richard Marx. It continues to bring a smile to my face as memories of my dad fills my heart. I miss you, Dad.

Mostly a fun week doing stuff at home, watching college bowl games and NFL football. A bitter sweet day at a funeral where we got to visit with bunch of people we hadn't seen in years but had to say goodbye to a very good friend. I'm still holding onto my balloon.Click on the image below to enlarge.Paper and elements from Digital Creations from Mlllstream Cottage's “Grandma's Quilt.”
Well, I've decided to do this P365 photo a day project once again. I love taking the photos, but scrapping them involves a lot of time which is in short supply. Still, the end product is well worth the effort.Click on the image below to enlarge.Paper and elements from Secret Stash Designs Secret Stash Designs “Grandma's Quilt.”
I love to travel, ski (snow and water) and bike. I also enjoy photography, art and drinking great wine with fine foods and good friends. This blog is a result of my renewed interest in digital scrap booking as a way to document research on my family history.
If you are related to the Wisconsin Ohls, I'd love to hear from you.
